Massage therapists are required to complete 2200 hour program from accredited schools and then complete registration exams. RMT's goals can include pain, tension and stress relief as well as preventative care. RMT's are trained in many techniques and also take continuing education courses to learn new techniques or modalities. Each RMT has their own treatment style and flow and will use various techniques to help their patients get the most safe and effective treatment.

In recent years there has been a significant rise in the demand for massage therapy. Many health care physicians refer patients out to RMT’s because it is accessible and effective in the treatment of their patient’s conditions. Most extended health benefits plan will now cover registered massage therapy as well.
